The St. Justin Foundation (SJF) has been committed to improving the rights and dignity of children and youth with disabilities since 2006. Starting as a voluntary center in Musoma, SJF now operates as a National NGO, addressing the challenges faced by these children and promoting their integration into society.
St. Justin Foundation (previously known as St. Justin Centre for Children with Disabilities) started as a Voluntary Centre for taking care of Children with Disabilities in January 2006, founded by Sr. Maria Margareth John, a member of the Immaculate Heart Sisters of Africa in Musoma. Initially, the Centre accommodated and supported only 10 children with disabilities.
On January 5, 2016, the Centre was registered as a CBO by the Musoma Municipal Council with registration number HMM/659. Since then, it has expanded significantly, enrolling and accommodating a growing number of children and youth with disabilities.
Later, on June 8, 2020, the Centre was granted a Children's Home License Number 0005686 by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, under the Law of Child Act Children's Homes Registrations, 2011.
Due to the increased expertise and experience obtained over time, the Centre upgraded its legal status to provide services not only as a Centre but also to extend its services to the community at large in Tanzania mainland. On August 15, 2024, it was registered as a National NGO under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002, with registration Number 00NGO/R/6820.
