Enabling Environment

Facilitate Participation

Enabling Environment means reducing the environmental barriers that hinder the effective and meaningful participation of CYWDs in society such as negative attitudes, inaccessible facilities and unfriendly legal and policy frameworks. Changes in the environment are therefore necessary, and we make them happen through awareness raising, infrastructural adjustments and lobbying and advocacy activities. We also strengthen and ensure the impact of our activities, Capacity Building of our Staff and other OPDs to ensure that they develop, implement and/or advocate for interventions, which empower children with disabilities by addressing their needs in health, education, livelihood and social development.

Lobby and Advocacy

St. Justin Foundation actively engages in lobbying and advocacy to drive structural changes that foster societies that are more inclusive. Our goal is to ensure that children and youth with disabilities are fully supported, and their human rights are respected at every level. We focus on influencing key decision-makers, community leaders, organizations, public services, and stakeholders who play a crucial role in promoting inclusivity. Our advocacy efforts prioritize the implementation of disability-inclusive policies, particularly in education and health, while encouraging community participation and the allocation of budgets for addressing disability-related issues

Awareness raising

St. Justin Foundation focuses on awareness raising to promote the inclusion and rights of children and youth with disabilities (CYWDs). Through various campaigns, we engage communities, schools, and local leaders to challenge misconceptions about disability and advocate for equal opportunities. Our awareness programs highlight the importance of inclusive education, healthcare, and social participation for CYWDs, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. We also organize events, workshops, and training sessions to educate the public on disability rights and foster a more supportive and understanding community. This helps reduce stigma and create a more inclusive society for all.

St. Justin Foundation actively participates in the "We Ring the Bell" campaign, which advocates for inclusive education. This campaign takes place during the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) and aims to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring that all children, including those with disabilities, have access to quality education. By ringing bells, we symbolically call attention to the urgent need for schools and communities to embrace inclusivity, ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing education. Through this initiative, we continue to push for positive change in educational policies and practices.

Infrastructural adjustments

St. Justin Foundation focuses on making infrastructural improvements to support children and youth with disabilities. One example is the renovation of Mama Esther Masimango Manyama's house, which had serious cracks and lacked a proper roof, making it unsafe, especially for her child, Esther Masimango Manyama, who has a physical disability. We made significant repairs to ensure the house is now secure and suitable for their living conditions. This kind of support is part of our broader effort to create safe and accessible environments for children with disabilities and their families.
